CHIMNEY & FIREPLACE INSPECTION
In order to prevent unnecessary fires, the National Fire Protection Association recommends homeowners inspect their chimneys, fireplaces every year. Nevertheless, do not wait until it gets cold and you have your first wood fire.
You're
much better off doing your inspection in the off-season so you'll know it's safe and ready to go when the weather gets cold.
The effects of rain, high winds, and other severe weather conditions can cause damage — and if not detected early enough, a small fix can become an xpensive repair.

Chimney level 1 & 2 inspection
At A Plus Air Services, we offer a complete chimney inspection level 1 and chimney inspection level 2. If you are wondering which inspection you should choose, then we can help you in making an informed decision.
Level 1 Chimney Inspection
If your appliance or venting system remains unchanged and you intend to use it as you have previously, a Level 1 inspection is the minimum requirement. A Level 1 inspection is recommended for a chimney that remains in continued service under the same conditions and with the continued use of the same appliance. In a Level 1 inspection, your chimney service technician should examine the readily accessible portions of the chimney exterior, interior and accessible portions of the appliance and the chimney connection. Your technician will be looking for the basic soundness of the chimney structure and flue as well as the basic appliance installation and connections. The technician will also verify the chimney is free of obstruction and combustible deposits.
Level 2 Chimney Inspection
f you are making any changes in the way you use your chimney, such as changing the type of fuel used, relining the flue, or if you’ve had any accidents or external events that may have caused damage, a level 2 chimney inspection is needed. If you’ve had a building fire, chimney fire or an earthquake, you will need to have a level 2 inspection preformed. Also, a level 2 inspection of the chimney is required before you sell your property.
As you probably assumed, a level 2 inspection is more detailed than level 1. A level 2 chimney inspection includes all of the visual examination included in a level 1 inspection, plus some additional work including examination of the attic, crawlspace and other accessible areas. In a level 2 inspection, a video camera or other device may be used to examine the flue and check for cracks or damage to the joints in the chimney’s structure.
